Last Minute Thoughts...
So, tomorrow's the big day. I fly out at 10am to Washington D.C., followed by a 14-hour flight to Beijing. I just finished putting this whole site together, and I've got most of my stuff packed. But I'm sure as the night goes on, I'll remember stuff that I forgot to pack. Anyway, if you're interested, you can click "subscribe" under the "pages" option on the right menu bar and enter your email address to get notifications each time I make a post. I know this is a really brief post, but I just wanted to post once more before I fly out in the morning. If you want to get in touch with me, I am on Skype, and my username is Scottco1986. Also, my aim screenname is spiDUDE9. And, my email address is Scottco86@comcast.net. I don't have any photos up from my trip yet, but there are some from my past trips on the photo gallery page. I'm sure I'll be pretty busy this weekend, but I'll try to post at some point once I get settled in. So, check back soon!

Getting Ready
So, I've got 10 more days till I'm off to Beijing. I wouldn't say that I'm quite nervous or excited yet, but it'll probably hit me once I'm on the plane. Anyway, I'll be studying Mandarin Chinese at Beiwai (BFSU - Beijing Foreign Studies University) through the IES Language Intensive program. It's 15 hours of Chinese class plus 4 hours of private tutorial per week, as well as two other classes (a Sociology course and an International Business class).
The program runs through May 23rd, and then I'll be doing a tour through GAP Adventures starting May 25th down through China on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, through Tibet visiting monasteries, to the Base Camp of Mt. Everest, and then finally into Nepal to Kathmandu. The tour ends there on June 8th, and then I'm on my own. I'll either head south into India to visit Delhi and Agra (the Taj Mahal), or just fly to Hong Kong to spend a week there. After Hong Kong, I'll take the two-hour train north to Guangzhou (Canton) and then fly back up to Beijing to catch my return flight to the states.
So, after four and a half months, I'll be back in Philadelphia on June 16th, and ready for a cheesesteak and some waterice. Hopefully, my posts will be a bit more interesting when I get to China, so check back!
